Yes, we’re serious about education. But we’re also serious about downtime. Especially when it comes to sports and recreation. Whether you’re a highly competitive athlete or an engaged spectator, our Patriot Pride runs deep.
Get out your green and gold gear and cheer on the men’s and women’s basketball teams. “Doc Nix” and his Green Machine band, recently named the NCAA’s #1 pep band, will help get you warmed up. Mason is part of the Atlantic 10 conference and has 22 NCAA Division I teams that compete at the highest levels. We also have 27 club sports teams, including football, that compete at the national level against NCAA Division II and Division III teams. Intramural team sports are big here, too. More than 2,000 students participate in everything from ultimate Frisbee to volleyball to, yes, even Quidditch.
We also have numerous athletic facilities, including a state-of-the-art aquatic and fitness center. Take a class in Zumba, Pilates, or aqua aerobics (you won’t even know you’re sweating!). Or pick up a racquet for a game of squash or tennis. Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty of hiking, kayaking, and whitewater rafting nearby.
In other words, there are plenty of ways to keep moving and stay in shape.
